2012 Schedule Overview:

The Symphonic Youth Orchestra of Greater Indianapolis (SYO) has announced its tentative performance dates and locations for the 2012 season.  The following concerts are free to the public:

Saturday, July 7, 2012, 1pm:  Artsgarden at Circle Center Mall
Saturday, July 14, 2012, 7pmCathedral High School Auditorium

The 2012 program has not been finalized. The 2011 program included works by Johannes Brahms, Felix Mendelssohn, and George Bizet.

SYO is a summer youth orchestra program, founded in 2008 and based out of Marian University, in which advanced high school and exceptional middle school musicians work with professional musicians and college students to prepare and perform complex orchestral literature.   The program is under the direction of Mrs. Shawn Goodman, Conductor, and Mr. Steve Goodman, Artistic Director.

The 2011 SYO included 39 students from the Greater Indianapolis area, as well as 7 college interns.  The schools represented included Cathedral High School, Bishop Chatard High School, Perry Meridian High School, Perry Meridian Middle School, Southport Middle School, Ben Davis High School, Franklin Community High School, Roncalli High School, Cardinal Ritter High School, Warren Central High School, Carmel High School, Sycamore School, Guerin High School, Avon Middle Schools North and South, Pike High School, Greenwood High School, and the Hoosier Academy.  The interns for the 2011 program came from Marian University, Ball State University, Miami University of Ohio, and Dayton University.
